Sherwood Dodge is proud to represent a company that cares about community the way Chrysler does. The car manufacturers gives back through special events, such as the Ram Tough Truck Pull. Chrysler teamed up with United Way/Centraide Windsor-Essex Country for the second year in a row as hundreds compete for the title of Ram Tough.
More than 200 participants signed up to compete on September 21, 2014, in downtown Windsor. Their challenge was to pull a Chrysler Group Auto Transport Carrier with six Ram 1500s 50 feet in the shortest time. The loaded carrier weighed almost 80,000 pounds.
The challenge tripled the amount raised from 2013 with $45,663. This money will benefit local outreach programs. The winner of the challenge was Integrity Tool & Mold with their top time of 25.82 seconds. They received bragging rights, a Guts, Glory, Ram cup and a VIP suite at a Windsor Spitfires OHL game and an autographed jersey. As Reid Bigland, President and CEO of Chrysler Canada, said, “Our Ram trucks don’t back down from a tough job and neither did this year’s winning team.”
This is not the only event that Chrysler and the local United Way have participated in together. They have also been involved with Chrysler Community Action Days and donated 10,000 Scholastic children’s books to different child care centres and other community locations. Employees of Chrysler Canada host an annual fundraising campaign, which has the distinction of being the largest United Way donation in the region for 2013.
